Trauma vaikuttaa identiteettiin ja maailmankuvaan. Se voi estää urakehityksen ja tuhota parisuhteen. Ihminen ei tunne olevansa kotonaan maailmassa vaan on vieras omassa elämässään. Trauma on useiden psyykkisten ongelmien taustalla. Depressio, ahdistus, unettomuus, riippuvuudet, syömishäiriöt, pelkotilat, persoonallisuushäiriöt tai dissosiaatiohäiriöt voivat kaikki kätkeä traumaattisen taustan. Ihminen on hengissä, mutta psyykkisen kasvun ja hyvinvoinnin kustannuksella. Hän elää puolella liekillä. Hänet on heitetty yksinäisyyteen ja uskomukseen, ettei hän kuitenkaan perimmältään voi kohdata toista ihmistä. Menneisyys tunkeutuu nykyhetkeen eikä irrota otetaan. Mutta traumat antavat mahdollisuuden tuntea kuka olen. Millainen on juuri minun erityislaatuinen olemassaoloni tässä elämässä. Ne tekevät läheistemme verkostosta merkittävän. Trauma voi olla portti muutokseen, syvempään ymmärrykseen ja individuaatioon.

Jung Club 25.4. Juha Klaavu: Psyykkinen muutos ja uudistuminen – vanhan kuninkaan kuolema alkemiassa.

”Yksilöllisiä ja kollektiivisia muutosprosesseja tutkimalla ja oppiessani ymmärtämään alkemistista symboliikkaa pääsin oman psykologiani keskeiseen käsitteeseen, individuaatioprosessiin.” C.G.Jung, Unia, ajatuksia, muistikuvia.
Alkemiaan löytäminen ja sen vuosikymmenten tutkiminen avasi Jungille selkeämmän ymmärryksen psyykeen prosesseista ja muutoksista. Tämän pohjalta hän pystyi kehittämään näkemyksensä individuaatioprosessista, jossa keskeisessä asemassa on syvä transformaatio, jota alkemiassa kuvataan vanhan kuninkaan kuolemana. Jung käsittelee tätä teema pääteoksessaan Mysterium Coniuctionis. Tämän alkemisen symboliikan kautta on mahdollista ymmärtää syvän muutosprosessin dynamiikka ja vaiheita.

Jung Club 25.4. Juha Klaavu: Psykisk förvandling och förnyelse – den gamle kungens död i alkemi.

”Genom att studera individuella och kollektiva förvandlingsprocesser och då jag lärde mig att förstå alkemistisk symbolik kom jag fram till det centrala begreppet i min egen psykologi, individuationsprocessen.” C.G.Jung, Mitt liv. Minnen drömmar tankar.
Att hitta sig till alkemin och studera den i årtionden öppnade för Jung en klarare förståelse för psykets processer och förvandlingar. På denna grund förmådde han utveckla sin syn på individuationsprocessen, i vars centrum det finns en djup tranformation som i alkemin beskrivs som den gamle kungens död. Jung behandlar detta tema huvudsakligen i verket Mysterium Coniuctionis. Genom denna alkemistiska symbolik är det möjligt att förstå den djupa förvandlingsprocessens dynamik och skeden.

We are happy to announce that Giorgio Tricarico will present to the Jung Club participants an introduction to his new book ”Lost Goddesses: a kaleidoscope in porn”, published a month ago by Karnac Books/Routledge.

The book is a unique work in psychoanalitical literature, as it deals with porn as a phenomenon of the current times, trying to explore its many layers and connections.
Porn can be seen as a symbol, and a door to different contents of our complex world.

Porn is a complex symbol of our modern world, and a shining example of the ‘Shadow’ of Western culture. While many books essentially show its negative sides — the risks of addiction, the danger of damaging the relationship between sexes, and so on — this work focuses on porn as a phenomenon of our times, exploring its many shades, and trying to capture its inner logic and essence.

Despite its pervasive ubiquity on the internet and in the lives of many, porn is apparently the ultimate taboo in the consulting room: in fact, very rarely does a patient mention something detailed about his or her use of porn. In parallel with its growing presence, the last forty years have witnessed a significant growth of publications about porn. Most of these essentially show porn’s negative sides, while a minority of books try to emphasise its positive role in the subversion of the dominant values.

This book aims at deepening the understanding of porn from the perspective of analytical psychology, seeing it as symbol of the complexity of the human psyche, which emerged in a specific moment of the history of consciousness. Porn is put in relation with technology, with consumerism, with our neglecting the body, with the dictatorship of the image, with the individual and the collective shadow, and with the unconscious nostalgia of the sacred and the divine. Lost Goddesses is not only addressed to psychotherapists, but to anyone interested in understanding porn as a phenomenon of the society of technology, its inner logic, and its multiple layers and connections.

Giorgio Tricarico is a clinical psychologist and a Jungian analyst, and a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology. He has worked with adult patients since 1998, and has given several lectures and seminars on relevant issues in Analytical Psychology. Since 2009, he has been living and working in Helsinki, Finland, as a psychologist, psychotherapist, and Jungian analyst. He is the author of The Labyrinth of Possibility: A Therapeutic Factor in Analytical Practice, and has written a number of essays and short stories. He is also a singer, a guitarist, and a songwriter.

Uskonnon ja henkisen ulottuvaisuutta syrjitään yleisesti, mutta uskontopsykologia ja analyyttinen psykologia näyttävät, että nämä ovat olennaisia ihmisymmärryksessä. Minkälainen tieteellinen perusta löytyy sille, kun ahdistuksemme irrottaa otettaan ja toivonkipinälle tulee tilaa mielessämme?

Tätä psykoterapiasta tuttua ilmiötä tarkastellaan aika harvoin psyyken
energian näkökulmasta. Energian näkökulmasta katsottuna muuttunut tunnetila syntyy sen
seurauksena, kun tietoinen mieli suostuu yhteistyöhön tiedostamattoman kanssa – tasaveroisena ja molemmille tilaa antaen. Usein tässä kohtaamisessa symbolilla on aivan keskeinen rooli.

Jung Club: Prospective Dreams in Analysis

Seuraavan Jung Clubin alustaa Giorgio Tricarico ja tilaisuus on englanniksi! Jung Club on 25.11. klo 18.00 Kotkankatu 7, Alppilassa, tervetuloa!

The theatre of dreams offers an infinite range of images, stories, symbols and narratives that accomplish different functions. Some dreams might realise conscious and unconscious desires, or compensate the conscious attitude of the dreamer.Other dreams might photograph the interaction of complexes in the inner landscape of the individual, or reveal Shadow aspects that yearn to be acknowledged. Other dreams still repeat traumatic events, or speak about a weak personality structure.

Our meeting will mainly focus on prospective dreams, those that show inklings of possibilities, mentioned by C.G. Jung as ”dreams that reconnoitre”.

Such dreams are often pivotal in the therapeutic journey with a patient, as they appear to show new possibilities of developing in some direction, and might be linked to the constellation of what could be called ”archetype of Possibility” (in this regard see Tricarico G., The Labyrinth of Possibility. A Therapeutic Factor in Analytical Practice, Karnac Books, London, 2014).

Giorgio Tricarico is a clinical psychologist, a Jungian analyst, and a writer of essays and short stories. He is member of the I.A.A.P. Suomessa toimiva jungilainen analyytikko Giorgio Tricarico on kirjoittanut kiinnostavan kirjan siitä, mikä terapiassa vaikuttaa.

”What exactly happens between the patient and the analyst when therapy is effective? Profoundly unsatisfied by the orthodox but vague explanation that ”the therapeutic factor is the relationship”, the author Giorgio Tricarico explores a hypothesis that is able to comprehend many different methods of both therapy and analysis. Starting from his own clinical experience, Tricarico runs into the image of the classical labyrinth (Daidalon) and a deeper analysis of what this symbol implies, revealing it as a symbol of ”Possibility”. The worldwide presence in different cultures and ages of the labyrinth as such a symbol may indeed point to the existence of an element beyond it, whose activation in the relationship between patient and analyst could be a fundamental factor for psychic change. Different methods of cure, seen through the lenses of the hypothesis expressed, may share a common factor of transformation. With the help of clinical cases, the concept of ”impossibility” in analysis is also explored. Situations in which every change seems to be impossible compel us to widen our concept of possibility and to return to its original meaning, far away from the omnipotent one the Western world blindly keeps repeating.”
